Candidate Profile

1. Connection to Wild Eagle Lodge

Describe your connection to Wild Eagle Lodge, including how long you have been connected with the property and how you use it.

My family and I are entering our second year as owners at Wild Eagle Lodge, although our connection to the property began before ownership as renters. We have always appreciated the beauty of the property, the surrounding Northwoods, and the opportunity it provides to spend quality time together as a family.

We primarily use our property for family time, relaxation, and enjoying everything the Northwoods has to offer. As both a former renter and now an owner, I understand the importance of maintaining the property as a desirable destination for families and guests while protecting the investment of those who own here.

Over the past year, serving on the ARC has given me an even greater appreciation for the property, its needs, and the importance of owner involvement in maintaining what makes Wild Eagle Lodge special.

2. Relevant Experience

Summarize the professional, volunteer, board, financial, property, or other experience you would bring to WELCA.

Professionally, I work in a service management and leadership role supporting technical training programs for technicians and firefighters who serve their communities. My responsibilities involve leading teams, managing resources, solving problems, and making informed decisions that balance operational needs, cost, and long-term value. My background has helped me develop strong communication, problem-solving, and people skills, along with the ability to listen to different perspectives before making decisions.

Outside of work, I have volunteered on my local Planning Commission and coached youth baseball. Both experiences have reinforced the importance of community involvement, teamwork, and making decisions that benefit more than just one individual.

Over the past year, I have also served on the Wild Eagle Lodge ARC Board. During that time, I attended every scheduled meeting and made the trip to the property for in-person walkthroughs the majority of the time. I have worked to remain accessible, provide feedback, and help address questions brought forward by owners.

While my direct property management experience is limited, my professional background, Planning Commission experience, and first year on the ARC have provided a strong foundation for evaluating property needs, understanding governing guidelines, and making thoughtful decisions that support the association.

3. Reasons for Running & Priorities

Why are you seeking a seat on the WELCA Board, and what two priorities would you focus on during your term?

I am seeking another term on the ARC Board because I believe my professional background, leadership experience, and willingness to be actively involved can continue to benefit Wild Eagle Lodge and its owners. My first year on the ARC has allowed me to better understand the property, its challenges, and the opportunities we have to make meaningful improvements.

1. Continued Property Improvements: Continue identifying and addressing areas of the property that have been neglected or need attention. I believe maintaining the appearance, condition, and overall quality of Wild Eagle Lodge is important to both the ownership experience and long-term property values.

2. Informed, Association-Focused Decisions: Help ensure decisions are made with the best interests of the entire association in mind. This means considering the needs of owners, understanding costs, following our governing documents, and making practical decisions that provide lasting value rather than focusing solely on individual preferences.

I want to continue being someone who listens, asks questions, and helps move improvements forward in a responsible and constructive manner.

4. Responsibilities to Owners

What do you believe are the Board’s most important responsibilities to WELCA owners, and how would you approach those responsibilities?

I believe the Board’s most important responsibility is to represent the collective interests of WELCA owners while protecting the property, maintaining its value, and ensuring decisions are fair, consistent, and transparent.

Owners should have confidence that their concerns are being heard, association resources are being used responsibly, and decisions are being made in accordance with the condominium bylaws and governing documents.

My approach would be to listen first, gather the necessary information, and evaluate how a decision impacts the association as a whole. Not every decision will satisfy every owner, but every decision should have a sound reason behind it.

I also believe communication and follow-through are extremely important. If we identify an issue, we should work toward a reasonable solution rather than allowing it to remain unresolved. My goal would be to approach each situation with an open mind, good judgment, and a willingness to do what is right for the long-term success of Wild Eagle Lodge.

5. Evaluating Competing Priorities

Board members must weigh financial needs, property maintenance, owner interest, governing documents, and long-term planning. How would you evaluate competing priorities and make decisions?

I believe responsible planning starts with understanding the difference between what we need, what we want, and what we can reasonably afford.

When evaluating property maintenance or improvements, I would look at the condition of the area, the importance of the work, the potential consequences of delaying it, and the overall cost compared to the benefit it provides. Safety, preventing further deterioration, and protecting property value should take priority over improvements that are primarily cosmetic.

I also believe we need to look beyond the immediate expense. Sometimes spending more today on the right repair or improvement can prevent significantly greater costs down the road. At the same time, not every proposed improvement justifies the expense.

My approach would be to gather information, understand the available options, compare costs against actual needs, and support decisions that balance current maintenance requirements with the association’s long-term financial health. I believe thoughtful planning and prioritization are essential to avoiding unnecessary expenses while continuing to improve the property.

6. Working Through Disagreement

How do you approach disagreement with other directors or owners, and how would you support the Board’s collective decision after a vote?

I believe disagreements are a normal part of any board or committee, especially when people are passionate about their property and investment. The important part is how those disagreements are handled.

My approach is to listen to all sides, understand the concern, and work toward a solution based on facts, the condominium bylaws, and the association’s governing documents rather than personal opinions or preferences.

I believe consistency and appropriate discretion are important when addressing sensitive situations. Owners deserve to be treated fairly, and discussions should remain respectful and focused on resolving the issue rather than creating additional conflict.

There will be times when I may not personally agree with the final decision. However, once a decision has been properly made by the Board, I believe it is important to respect and support that decision while maintaining appropriate confidentiality. A successful board does not require everyone to agree on everything, but it does require members who can work together and move forward professionally.

7. Commitment to Board Service

Board service requires preparation, regular meeting attendance, review of materials, and follow-through between meetings. Can you make that commitment? Please note any known limitations.

I believe my first year serving on the ARC Board demonstrates the level of commitment I am willing to provide.

Over the past year, I have attended every scheduled meeting and, on the majority of occasions, traveled to Wild Eagle Lodge to participate in walkthroughs and evaluate property concerns in person. I have also made an effort to remain available to provide feedback and help address questions from owners.

I believe there is significant value in physically being at the property, seeing concerns firsthand, and understanding the situation before making decisions. While virtual meetings and communication are useful, they do not always replace the perspective gained from being onsite.

I plan to continue that same level of involvement and commitment. I understand that serving on the ARC requires time, preparation, communication, and follow-through, and I am willing to continue making that investment to support Wild Eagle Lodge and my fellow owners.

8. Potential Conflicts of Interest

Please disclose any current business, employment, ownership, family, or financial relationship that could be reasonably viewed as an actual or potential conflict of interest involving WELCA business. Disclosure does not by itself disqualify a candidate.

No, I own one unit and have been owners for a little over a year. I have no other ties to the property or other owners or agencies.
